Annie Chen is a graphic designer, image maker, and visual storyteller who truly takes a global approach to her work. Hailing from Taiwan, she grew up in Thailand and studied in US before bringing her work and passion to Toronto, Ontario.

Her love for visual arts and design started with craft making and drawing letterforms from a young age. Taking her passion from a hobby to a career, Annie studied at the California College of Arts (CCA) in San Francisco, California earning a B.F.A with distinction.

Following graduation, she worked as an in-house designer for Finn Bicycle. With a curiosity of the rapid evolution of design technology, she then decided to pursue her Masters of Design at York University in Toronto. Annie’s belief that design is not restricted by medium. Her curiosity put theory to practice as she creates contemplative work that values and thoughtfully explores the impact of art and design in print, digital, and mixed media.

Since finishing her Masters, Annie has worked in advertising agency and architect office. She is currently freelancing for agencies and creating brand identities with independently owned businesses.

Her work has received awards and recognitions from Type Directors Club Award, Graphis, Communication Arts, Applied Arts, Adobe Design Achievement Awards, AIGA Chicago Student Award, Graphic Design Thesis Awards, and work published in New Modernist Type and Open Book.
